Somali man elected Vice President of the Minneapolis City Council.

Mr. Jamal Osman has been elected Vice President of the Minneapolis City Council, marking a significant achievement for both the city and the Somali community.

He was elected due to his long-standing, active role in community leadership and his efforts to build cooperation between residents, law enforcement, and social service organizations.

Minneapolis neighborhoods are home to a large and well-organized Somali community. In recent elections, including the last mayoral race, Somali voters played a decisive role through strong participation, civic engagement, and community organizing.

Their involvement helped shape the city’s leadership and demonstrated the growing political influence of the community.

During this election, Somali community members worked hard to encourage voter turnout and civic participation, contributing meaningfully to the democratic process. Their efforts were widely

recognized as an important factor in the outcome.

Mr. Jamal Osman has pledged to work closely with the Minneapolis City Council, the Mayor, the Governor, and the Police Chief to promote unity, public safety, and social progress across the city.

The Somali community has expressed great pride and satisfaction in this achievement, viewing it as a positive step forward for representation and collaboration in Minneapolis.
