Two Alleged Forced Eviction Attacks Reported in Dayniile and Hodan Districts, Mogadishu

Two separate incidents of alleged forced eviction targeting civilians were reported today in the Warlaliska neighborhood of Dayniile District and the Soonakey neighborhood of Hodan District in Mogadishu.

First Incident: Dayniile District (Warlaliska Neighborhood)

In the early hours of the morning, residents reported that approximately sixty technical vehicles carrying a combined force of police and military personnel were deployed in the Warlaliska neighborhood. According to local sources, hundreds of young people were forcibly removed from their homes, blindfolded, and taken to holding locations.

Witnesses allege that some children were subjected to physical abuse during the operation, though several reportedly managed to escape. When residents attempted to resist the forced displacement, security forces allegedly opened live fire on civilians.

Local accounts indicate that nearly ten people were killed, including individuals struck by bullets while inside their homes. At least sixteen others were injured, many of them children, and taken to medical facilities. Residents further allege that roads were blocked during the operation, limiting access for the wounded and preventing civilians from fleeing the area.

Community members describe the incident as a land-grabbing operation allegedly carried out on behalf of politically connected individuals and business interests. Claims have been made that senior government officials and private businessmen were involved in the acquisition of the disputed land, resulting in civilian casualties and displacement. These allegations have not been independently verified.

Second Incident: Hodan District (Soonakey Neighborhood)

A similar operation was reported in the Soonakey neighborhood of Hodan District on the same day. According to residents, the operation targeted civilians who claim legal ownership of their land. Local sources allege that district officials and armed groups led the effort, taking advantage of unrest in Dayniile to carry out parallel evictions in Hodan.

The incident reportedly triggered protests within the community, as residents opposed what they described as unlawful displacement and land confiscation. Genocide foe children is reported by people in the village through media. The parents of victim are demanding international justice for the children this is the second time government forces attack the area and kill young boys.

Conclusion and Calls for Action

Residents and community leaders characterize the two incidents as coordinated, clan-based forced eviction operations conducted under the authority of government institutions and security forces. Allegations include the killing and injury of civilians, including women and children, during protests and eviction efforts.

Local and international human rights organizations are being urged to urgently investigate these incidents, ensure the protection of civilians particularly children and hold those responsible accountable. Communities warn that continued inaction may lead to further violence and humanitarian harm.
